Prevent and Control Invasive Species in our Lakes and Rivers
Dane County's Office of Lakes and Watersheds has prepared an aquatic invasive species plan for Dane
County waters. The plan can be accessed at:
Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention and Control Plan.
The plan involves the county working together with stakeholder groups, surrounding counties and the
state to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species in Dane County waters. The
plan serves as a guide for Dane County and its partners in combating problems caused by aquatic
invasive species that are already here, such as Eurasian water milfoil, and in preventing the
introduction of others such as Asian carp and Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia. The Office of Lakes & Watersheds
has submitted the plan to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and is seeking state funding to
augment its implementation actions.
