Enroll for a Bachelor’s Degree
The state architecture board will determine what you will need to study to be a great architect. You will be required to complete the five-year bachelor or architecture program that is accredited by the National Architecture Accrediting Board. The courses will include technology and building systems, structural elements, project management and environmental planning. There are several architectural competitions that you can participate in to help hone your skills and allow you to get more exposure to the industry before the completion of your degree program. Apply for a license and become certified
Architects must have a certificate from the state in which they practice. Once you have your bachelor’s degree certificate and the internship, you can get a licensure that will allow you to operate as an architect in your state. You may be required to sit for an interview and submit your transcripts and documents as proof of experience and education. Depending on the state, additional tests may be offered to increase your chances of getting the certificate. Your license must be renewed every few years.
